Return & Exchange Policy
At The Book Shop (KitaabKharido), we stand behind every product we sell. While we do not offer cash refunds, we are fully committed to resolving any genuine issue — through an exchange or store credit coupon — so you are never left at a loss.
Overview
You have 30 days from the date of delivery to raise a return request for any eligible issue with your order. Our goal is simple — if something went wrong on our end, we will make it right.
Quick summary: Received the wrong book? Defective copy? Damaged in transit? Contact us within 30 days. We will arrange a replacement or issue a store credit coupon — no questions asked.
No Cash Refund Policy
We do not process cash or bank refunds under any circumstances. This applies to all orders, regardless of the payment method used (online, UPI, card or COD).
In the event of a valid issue with your order, we will resolve it through one of the following:
- Exchange: We replace the item with the correct or undamaged book, delivered to you at no extra cost.
- Store Credit Coupon: We issue a coupon of equivalent value that you can use on your next order on KitaabKharido. Coupons are valid for 6 months from the date of issue and can be applied to any product.
We believe this approach ensures you always get full value for your money — either the right book in your hands, or the flexibility to choose something else you need.
Return Eligibility
A return is accepted when one or more of the following conditions are met:
- You received the wrong book or wrong edition — not what you ordered.
- The book arrived damaged or defective — torn pages, missing pages or printing defects.
- The book was damaged during transit — visible damage to the packaging or item on arrival.
- You received a duplicate shipment — two copies of the same item.
To qualify, the returned item must be:
- Unused — no annotations, highlights or customer-caused damage.
- In its original packaging or cover where applicable.
- Reported within 30 days of delivery with your order number.
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are not eligible for return or exchange:
- Books that have been read, annotated, highlighted or damaged by the customer.
- Magazines and periodicals — once opened.
- Items reported after 30 days from the date of delivery.
- Items purchased under clearance or "final sale" promotions.
- Custom or special-order books sourced specifically at the customer's request.
- Change-of-mind returns — we do not accept returns simply because you no longer need the book.
How to Return
Raising a return request is straightforward. Follow these steps:
- Step 1: Contact us via WhatsApp (+91 9310262701), phone or email within the 90-day window.
- Step 2: Share your order number, the reason for return, and clear photos of the item — photos are mandatory for damaged or wrong-item claims.
- Step 3: Our team will review your request and respond within 24–48 hours.
- Step 4: If approved, securely pack the item and ship it to our store address. For defective or wrong items, we will arrange pickup where available.
- Step 5: Once we receive and inspect the item, your exchange or store credit coupon will be issued promptly.
Return shipping cost: If the issue is on our end (wrong or defective item), we cover the return shipping. For all other eligible returns, return shipping is the customer's responsibility.
Resolution: Coupon or Exchange
Once your return is approved and the item received, we will offer you one of the following resolutions:

Store credit coupons are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. They can be applied to any product on KitaabKharido and cannot be converted to cash.
Damaged or Wrong Item Received
If your order arrived damaged, defective or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with:
- Your order number.
- Clear photographs of the damaged or incorrect item.
- A photograph of the outer packaging if it was damaged in transit.
We will arrange a replacement at no additional cost. If a replacement is unavailable, a store credit coupon of the full item value will be issued immediately.
